A thorough and extensive search has led Walton-Verona High School to a new head coach in Grant Brannen. Walton-Verona has a long tradition of academic excellence complemented by successful athletic programs. Coach Brannen is an excellent addition to this tradition.
Coach Brannen has all of the qualities Walton-Verona looks for in a leader. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a commitment to excellence. The players he has been charged with coaching have excelled to the highest levels. The student -athletes of Walton-Verona will continue to succeed under Coach Brannen's leadership.
Grant brings a great deal of experience and success to the athletic program at Walton-Verona High School. During his seven years as Newport Central Catholic’s head coach, the Thoroughbreds have compiled a record of 146-62. The Thoroughbreds reached the 9th region finals twice and have won the All “A” Regional Championship four times, including the 2013 State Championship. Named NKAC Coach of the Year three times and KABC Coach of the Year this past season, Coach Brannen is well-respected among his peers.
Coach Brannen will be an asset to our basketball program. The leadership in the district is thrilled with this hire. We are very excited about Grant Brannen and his future as the head coach of the Walton-Verona Bearcats. We are pleased to welcome Grant, his wife Anna of seven years, and his two children Caroline (3) and Jefferson (1) to the Walton -Verona family.
