WVAlumni

Welcome WV Alumni & Friends.
The WV Alumni Association has introduced a re-envisioned community for alumni and friends. For alumni, our directory experience will help you to reconnect with classmates and old friends.

About.
Our role as the Alumni Association is to strengthen those bonds to the district and each other. We help our members collaborate and work for the good of our students.

Annual Alumni Banquet.
The WV Alumni Association extends an invitation for all alumni to attend the annual alumni banquet. We welcome all alumni and new alumni from the most recent graduation. The banquet often focuses on new developments and updates concerning the school district. Each year we recognize prior classes who graduated in 10-year increments of the year of the banquet. We welcome Walton-Verona Superintendent Dr. Matt Baker to speak each year and hope former staff can attend as well.

Class Reunion Information
Reunions are filled with opportunities to gather with classmates, reminisce about student days, learn about exciting things occurring at WVISD today and enjoy class events, interactions with students and faculty, educational sessions, recreational opportunities and much more.

Each class celebrates a reunion once every five years, except emeritus classes, who celebrate annually. (Emeritus classes are those who graduated more than 50 years ago.)

Feel free to contact the High School Office to:
1. If you are having a class reunion
2. If you have any questions about facilities or tours

Alumni Scholarships.
As alumni, we know how special this district is. We help to make that a reality by offering a variety of scholarships to students. Stay tuned for how to apply for scholarships, deadlines to apply, and previous scholarships awards.

Hall of Fame.
The Alumni Hall of Fame recognizes alumni who have achieved distinction, an outstanding accomplishment or have made a significant contribution within their professions, our community and in their communities or in the world.

Annual Giving.
Donations to the Alumni Association go directly to provide funding for scholarships for graduating seniors. Through generous donations from Alumni our Association has been able to provide thousands of dollars in scholarships for over 50 years. Your donations are appreciated and go directly to that purpose.

District History.
The Walton and Verona Graded Schools enjoy a rich history dating back to 1880. At that time there were two school districts, one in Verona and one in Walton. The two districts consolidated into one school district in 1935. A grade school maintained in Verona and a High School in Walton became known as the Walton-Verona Independent Schools.

The present elementary was constructed in 1971 and has several additions in the 1990s and in the 2000s to accommodate growth. Walton-Verona Middle School was constructed in 1954 as a high school with additions in 1962, 1973, 1989 and 1993. A new High School wing was constructed in 2007. The Bridge Program resides in the former Preschool Building. A new Early Childhood Center was built in 2019 and is located behind the District Office. The Walton-Verona Athletic Complex is located in Verona.

The communities of Walton and Verona are proud of their independent schools. Walton-Verona Schools have always maintained high academic standards and have produced well-rounded, productive citizens. Land has been purchased by the Walton-Verona Board of Education in Verona for future use.  Currently, we are wrestling with rapid student growth (current enrollment approximately 1600 students) Adding additional classroom/educational space is a priority.

Archived Yearbooks.
The yearbook, also known as an annual, is a record of a school’s yearly activities and should document that year of time in a student’s life. Stay tuned for more information.
